LA Galaxy and Milan far apart on money for Beckham

February 8, 2009

The Galaxy rejected AC Milan’s initial offer for David Beckham and expects the Italian club to come back with a much higher bid, or the British midfielder will be back in Los Angeles next month.

Tim Leiweke, chief executive of the company that owns the Galaxy, told the Los Angeles Times on Friday he would not consider an extended loan of the 33-year-old England international to Milan, but he was willing to negotiate a purchase deal.

“Clearly, if David’s in a position where he wants to finish the season in Milan, and Milan in turn compensates the Galaxy so that we can suffer no damages to our fans or to our team, then we’ll take a look at it,” said Leiweke, the CEO of the Anschutz Entertainment Group.

“But we have made it very clear to them that we expect David back here March 9,” he continued. “They agree and understand we own the contract. They understand the only way we do this is if, when this is all said and done, the Galaxy benefits.”ADVERTISEMENT

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani told Sky Italia on Saturday that the two sides are far apart on how much it will cost to buy out Beckham’s contract, but said he’s willing to parley. Neither Galliani nor Leiwecke would talk numbers.

“There’s a long distance between what we’ve offered and what they want,” Galliani said. “Therefore we need to talk. For now we are a long way off, but there is a still a month to go.”

Beckham, on a three-month loan to Milan until March 8, last week announced that he wants to stay with the team.

If no deal is reached with the Italian club, Beckham has agreed to fulfill his contract with the Galaxy, Leiweke said.

David Beckham considering staying with AC Milan

January 28, 2009

David Beckham is enjoying his stay with AC Milan so much that he is considering remaining in Italy after his two-month loan expires.

“Playing here is the dream of every footballer,” Beckham said in an interview with Italian daily Corriere della Sera on Wednesday. “But deciding isn’t easy. It’s a question that takes time.”

Beckham’s loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy expires March 8, after which he is due to return to Major League Soccer.

“I’m under contract and I have a lot of respect for the Galaxy. But the chance to play for Milan is something special,” Beckham said in the interview, which was published in Italian. “I knew I would enjoy it, but I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. But in terms of character, I’m a very respectful person.”

Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said Tuesday that the seven-time European champions were prepared to pay a fee to keep Beckham, and would meet with his representatives in the next few days.

“I find (Milan) very similar to Manchester United. It has that tradition that only the great clubs have,” Beckham said. “At Milan, like at United, it’s a very particular atmosphere wherever you go, from the training pitch to the stadium.”

Beckham has started all three of Milan’s matches since he arrived, and the Rossoneri have not lost, drawing with AS Roma and beating Fiorentina and Bologna. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player scored his first goal for Milan in Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Bologna.

England coach Fabio Capello will attend Milan’s match against Genoa on Wednesday to assess Beckham’s form.

Beckham is hoping to be called up by Capello for a friendly against Spain on Feb. 11 and equal Bobby Moore’s record of 108 England appearances for an outfield player.

His ultimate goal is to make England’s team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and moving back to Los Angeles may hinder that bid. Capello was the one who suggested that Milan sign Beckham.

“The Americans are doing everything they can to improve the level and reputation of their game. It’s a young league and I think it needs another 10 years to become successful,” said Beckham, whose contract with the Galaxy lasts through 2012.

“I have to admit that, having played in Europe, sometimes it was frustrating playing in certain games. But every now and then, moving from one state to another, I also enjoyed myself.”

The England international scored in the 60th minute of Milan’s match at Bologna on Sunday to make it 4-1 after a pair of goals from Kaka and another from Clarence Seedorf.

So far, Beckham has started all three of Milan’s matches since he arrived.

Beckham makes home debut for AC Milan

January 18, 2009

ILAN, Italy (AP)—David Beckham made his home debut for AC Milan on Saturday, playing 81 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina in the Italian league.

Beckham is on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy and hopes to stay sharp in hopes of earning a spot on the English national team. He played his first Serie A match a week ago.

He had a busy night on the right side of midfield before being replaced by defender Philippe Senderos in the game at San Siro.

Just before halftime, Beckham had an excellent chance. The ball was worked across to him on the right side of the penalty box, but goalkeeper Sebastien Frey was able to push his low shot away for a corner kick.

Alexander Pato scored in the seventh minute for the only goal in what many expect to be Kaka’s last game before joining Manchester City for more than $130 million. At the start of the second half, Kaka had three good opportunities, but each time the Fiorentina defense was able to block his shots.

The win leaves Milan in third place, six points behind leader Inter Milan and two behind Juventus. Both teams play Sunday.

Ronaldinho banned for 3 Italian Cup matches

January 16, 2009

AC Milan playmaker Ronaldinho was banned for three Italian Cup matches Friday for elbowing defender David Rozenhal in a loss to Lazio last month.

Ronaldinho had the ball and was running for the goal but when the defender david came he stole the ball from ronaldinho and then  ronaldinho got mad and elbowed him which was not acceptable.

Now ronaldinho is going to be fined for that and Fifa has put a ban on him and he cant play 3 italian cups  which is going to have a bad effect on A.C Milan .

Beckhams Ambitions to get back on englands national squad.

January 9, 2009

Beckham went to A.C Milan on loan just to stay in shape so he gets selected in the englands national mens soccer team and could play more caps.

Beckham played preety good the last game that he played and had alot of good touches on the ball and assisted to..

But Englands coach needs some thing that would convince him to get beckham back on the team.

Over the next two months, England head coach Fabio Capello will be casting a keen eye on Beckham. The Italian has not closed the door on the 33-year-old midfielder, yet he needs some serious convincing that Beckham still has something meaningful to offer to England’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

I have noticed that Fabio Capello chooses the players who have these qualities.

• Fitness

• Attitude

• Technique

• Personality

According to me beckham has all of these qualities and he should be on the team for the world cup.

Beckham makes Milan debut in a friendly game.

January 7, 2009

David Beckham made his AC Milan debut with a steady first-half run-out against Hamburg SV in a friendly on Tuesday won 4-3 on penalties by the Italians after the match finished 1-1.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder was sending through balls in the hamburgs defence to Andriy Shevchenko.

Ronaldinho broke the deadlock for Milan, scoring from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, but Hamburg were quick to equalise with a close-range effort from Collin Benjamin in the 66th minute.

“I’m still part of the national team now,” Beckham told reporters. “When I’m playing and when I’m fit the manager has always said there’s a chance he’ll pick me.”

The english man finally played his first game after he came to A.C Milan.
